I had the opportunity to work at Deer Creek for a time, and I can tell you that the staff and leadership team are wonderful! Putting your loved one in a nursing facility is always a difficult time emotionally, but Deer Creek really is more caring than the majority of other facilities you will find. There are many residents who have lived at Deer Creek for years, and who made Deer Creek feel like home for the employees as well. The pandemic has created so many challenges for nursing facilities nation-wide and progress is a constant. I still have friends and family working at Deer Creek so I felt a good review was due. I can tell you that the tenured staff at nursing facilities are heaven-sent. They face challenges every day but continue to serve a population that is in need. I feel that the leadership team is understanding and can help resolve any concerns as you watch over your loved one. If you had a bad experience in the past, it is still worth your time to talk to someone at Deer Creek to see the recent changes that have been made. Deer Creek was and is one of the most friendly, clean, and safe places to work. These small-town facilities are different and seem to care more about their patients. Each resident and family has different needs, so when you are looking for a perfect home for your loved one, help create it by brainstorming with the leadership team as they work to meet your needs and make a plan of care that can continue to change as your loved one also faces changes in their life.

A relative of mine lives here and has been very happy. The care takers have been very attentive. She has been very involved in activities such as Bingo, Bible study, singing, wheel chair volleyball, painting, etc. She likes the three daily meals she gets to eat and loves her roommate.

Deer Creek of Wimberley has been a home away from home for my mom for the last year. Prior to this, she had stayed at Deer Creek for therapy, several times. My father had stayed at Deer Creek after a broken hip and later with other medical issues. All this to say that our family has spent a lot of time here through the years. Whenever I have had a concern or question, they have promptly helped. Bo, who is head of therapy, has been a Godsend. She is knowledgeable, professional, and caring, as are the other therapists. The staff of nurses and care attendants meet my mom’s needs with gentleness and promptness. The director of Deer Creek, is one of the most caring people I know. She greets my mom and I with hugs, and always asks if there is anything we need or anything she can do to help. It’s a hard decision, as to where we let our loved ones stay for therapy, or for a residence, but the staff at Deer Creek of Wimberley has proven over and over that they are professional and caring, which are the two things that I want for my mom. My mom has gained weight, is stronger, is involved in the many daily activities available, and simply put, is flourishing. Deer Creek has been a blessing to my mom and to our family.

This is third time I have come to Deer Creek to convalesce after surgery! I highly recommend the property, staff, management and kitchen. I highly recommend Deer Creek for you and/or your loved ones!

My sister spent the last 10 1/2 months of her life at Deer Creek of Wimberley. Having had my fair share of experience with immediate family death (this is the 5th in 5 years), trust when i say that I found the staff at this facility to be an engaged and caring group of people. My sister connected and had a great group of resident friends. Plenty of activities were scheduled to take advantage of, or not. My frustration is with our government and insurance companies hamstringing our medical community. We have an opioid epidemic due to those that abuse them, making it so bloody difficult for the elderly that truly need them due to extreme pain and nearing the end of their life. In the case of my sister, she was not in hospice because she went so quickly at the end. Just grateful for having found Deer Creek at Wimberley and the loving care they gave my sister and me.

FAQ
Have a Question?

Get in Touch

Considering a skilled nursing or rehabilitation facility can be a confusing process. Please reach out with any questions or concerns you may have. We’re here to help.

How do I pay for my time at your facility?

We work with most major insurances–including Medicare and Medicaid–to cover your stay and services provided. Use the contact form or give us a call to answer questions about your specific plan or provider.

What should I bring with me during my stay?

In general, we will provide you with basic essentials for living and hygiene. If you have specific products you like to use, please feel free to bring them. You’ll need comfortable clothing for 7-10 days, and any personal items you’d like to have, though we recommend leaving jewelry and valuables at home.

Who do you treat for rehabilitation services?

We are a skilled nursing facility, or SNF. Our therapists specialize in physical, occupational, and speech therapy to help individuals regain their independence at home. Typical patients are elderly, and require rehab following an accident or surgery, and their stay is usually covered by insurance. We do not offer drug or alcohol rehabilitation services.
